We are going to limit the amount of homework sent home this year. The second grade teachers and our principal would like to emphasize the importance of reading to and with your child every night. Research shows that daily reading to an adult and being read to daily helps students tremendously improve their own reading abilities, their spelling skills, and vocabulary. Students should read no less than 15 minutes each evening, preferably with an adult or older sibling who can help with unknown words, context clues, and asking questions to make sure they understand what they are reading. In addition to nightly reading, the students will be asked to also complete one math page that can be completed over several nights, if necessary. THE MATH WILL BE DUE ON FRIDAY EACH WEEK. .
